Feed ME 5k Walk to End Hunger is Back.

Maine State Credit Union's annual walk to end hunger will be in person

April 4, 2022 – Augusta, ME - - The 2022 Maine State Credit Union's Feed ME 5K Walk to End Hunger in Maine will be an in-person event this year. It will take place on Saturday, April 23, at 9 am at the YMCA entrance of the Kennebec River Rail Trail in Augusta.

"Although it will be a lower-key version this year, we are finally excited to have this as an in-person event," said Stacey Dow, Co-Chair of Maine State Credit Union's Social Responsibility Crew. "This will be a transition year for us; after hosting virtual walks for the past two years, COVID has changed a lot of things. We hope many people will come out to show support and even consider donating. We are very anxious to see people's smiling faces! We also hope to gain insight this year on how we may need to shift some things around for the future."

Maine State Credit Union has been hosting its annual Walk to End Hunger in Maine since 2006 and has raised $500,000 from this event alone. All the proceeds raised from this event and other events MSCU hosts during the year go directly to many of our local hunger organizations.

"This is our largest fundraising event of the year," said Dow, "and it is the only large fundraising event where most of our recipient hunger organizations participate and raise much of the money themselves." She also added, "MSCU employees are excited each year to participate if supports the credit unions,' 'people helping people philosophy.' In addition, we are incredibly thankful for the businesses that sponsor this event. This year, our sponsors have generously contributed over $20,000 to help feed our hungry neighbors!"
